The well-preserved Greek and Roman ruins are the foundations of the country's attraction. Enlisted by UNESCO on the World Cultural Heritage list, there are a number of attractions to see.
The Paphos Mosaics depict scenes from Greek mythology dating back to the 2nd century. One of the most famous mosaics is of Theseus killing the Minotaur in the House of Theseus. Other great sights include: the Paphos Castle which was originally a fort built to protect the harbour and is now a hallmark of Paphos. Also the magnificent Paphos Odeon built in the 2nd century, today it holds the summer music festival and other performances.
